Carmine Pezzuti, 88, of Hawthorne

HAWTHORNE, N.J. — Carmine Pezzuti, 88, of Hawthorne, died.

He was born in Paterson to Joseph and Marion Pezzuti and has been a lifelong resident of Hawthorne.

Pezzuti served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and returned to marry his sweetheart, Joan (nee Florentino.)

He started his own business, Henderson Body Works of Paterson, with his brother, and operated it until his retirement in 1995. He then split his time between Hawthorne and Pompano Beach, Fla.

Pezzuti was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s RC Church in Hawthorne.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joan.

He is survied by his children, Cathy and her husband Mark Curley and Carmine (Dean) and his wife Cathy Pezzuti; grandchildren, Steven, Michael, Stephanie, Nicholas, Gianna, Gillian and Matthew; and siblings, Angelina Cortazzo and the late Joseph Pezzuti.

The family will receive family and friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes. There will be a funeral service at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s RC Church, 276 Diamond Bridge Ave., Hawthorne at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes.
