Alette Blasi, 70, Of Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, N.J. -- Alette Blasi (nee Popowich), 70, of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016, at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, with her loving husband beside her.

The funeral will be at 8 a.m. Wednesday at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield, followed by a funeral service at 9:30 a.m. at Ss Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Passaic. Interment will be in Ss Peter & Paul Orthodox Cemetery, Saddle Brook. 

Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with parastas at 7 p.m.. 

Blasi was a devoted employee of the Garfield Public School System for 35 years before retiring in 2006. She worked first as a physical education and driver's education teacher, and later as a guidance counselor. Her creativity and generosity touched countless young lives. 

Her faith in God never wavered and her devotion to prayer helped many of her loved ones in both good times and bad. She had a one-of-a-kind personality and light that shined through and touched all those around her. 

She is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Carmen Blasi.

She was the daughter of the late Peter & Margaret (nee Chabora) Popowich; sister-in-law of Linda and her husband Frank Russomanno and Gerardo Blasi; and aunt of Michele and her husband James Kula, Kimberly Russomanno and Alexander and his wife Maria Salta. She also is survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends.
