A select few, including Johnson of Unity Jiu Jitsu in Totowa, were flown by the Sheikh himself as part of an all-expense paid trip to Abu Dhabi for the competition.
Johnson won a total of seven fights, three by submission and four by decision, to claim the title.
He previously won multiple International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation championships in his career. He ranks No. 1 in his section by IBJJF.
Johnson is the owner and head instructor at Unity Jiu Jitsu, which opened in February.
