During the event, the library will forgive patrons’ late fees in exchange for non-perishable food donations.

Each food item donated will pay for one overdue fine. The program does not include materials from the library that have been lost.

Products needed for the food drive include high protein items such as canned meat, peanut butter and meaty soups, along with canned fruit and vegetables.

The library will also accept new personal hygiene items.

The products will be collected by CUMAC, a local food pantry.

The library is also collecting pet food to be distributed to the Save the Animals Rescue Team.

For more information about the Food for Fines program, call 973-790-3265.

The library is located at 537 Totowa Road.
