Paterson Man Takes Stand In Vehicular Homicide Trial

PATERSON, N.J. -- A Paterson man testified that he stopped to help a woman he allegedly struck and killed in his truck in 2012, according to NorthJersey.com.

David Baker, 59, allegedly struck and killed Maria Garcia, 49, on Madison Avenue. Authorities said Baker had a blood alcohol concentration of .28. Baker, however, said he was not drinking on the night in question, and that he merely stopped to provide assistance to Garcia, NorthJersey.com reported. 

Baker also said he was mistreated by police including having his head slammed against a car, NorthJersey.com said.
