"The City is working with Street Smart and NJTPA to improve road safety for our children and families. The goal is to prevent accidents and injuries," said Passaic Mayor Alex Blanco. "This effort reinforces safety and traffic regulations with motorists and reminds residents to be more aware of their surroundings."

City Ambassadors and Street Smart personnel will be handing out tip cards at selected intersections in Passaic on March 18, 21 and 29. In addition, Passaic Police will be increasing enforcement activities aimed at ensuring compliance with traffic regulations.

The Public School System will also assist the effort by distributing information to all students. The City has also posted Street Smart materials in public buildings and distributed tip sheets to numerous community organizations.

This March, remember to be street smart. Check your vital signs: stop signs, speed limit signs, crosswalk signs. They ensure you get where you're going safely.

"Your choices affect the lives of those around you," a news release notes. "Obey the law, drive and walk with care, and protect your loved ones. Be a leader and others will follow."
