Walmart had proposed building a superstore on the 8.6-acre lot, but withdrew the plans two years ago in the face of strong opposition, including resident lawsuits, the story said. Residents believe apartments would be much better for the community than warehouses, empty lots or superstores, the story said. The board is therefore hearing an application to designate the lot for residential rather than industrial use, reported NorthJersey.com
