Hawthorne Mayor: $21 Million Budget Has No Surprises

HAWTHORNE, N.J. -- Hawthorne's $21 million spending plan will constitute a $42 bump in tax payments for the average property owner, according to NorthJersey.com. Causes for the increase come largely from the increase in price for services like garbage and recycling, funding pensions for police and firefighters and a reduction of the borough's taxable real estate value. Despite the changes, Mayor Richard Goldberg said there were no surprises in the budget, NorthJersey.com reported.
