Staffers at the library introduced Storrie the elf to the public in December to liven up the season.

Brian Sedita, a Montclair State student who works at the library, brought Storrie to work with him.

Named thematically for the library, Storrie came from the "Elf on the Shelf" picture book that includes an accompanying figurine.

Sedita now posts pictures of Storrie to the library's Facebook page each day in different locations and poses.

"Basically it gives our patrons something to look forward to on the social media front," Sedita told Daily Voice. "It might draw people to other programs. Hopefully when children and parents see him they will want to visit."

Some of Storrie's antics include putting books away, holding onto strings to hang in midair, chilling in the refrigerator and riding a tree ornament in a style reminiscent of Miley Cyrus in her "Wrecking Ball" video.

Library Director Anne Krautheim said she's pleased with how much fun people have had with the Storrie pictures.

"[Sedita's] very creative," Krautheim said. "He really came in full force this season. I think patrons of all ages are enjoying it."
