The third-annual Spike Out Hunger event will benefit the Oasis non-profit, which provides meals for the needy.

Art in Motion runs the volleyball game at School No. 5. Gladys Game, co-founder of the non-profit dedicated to the arts, said the event is part of their mission to help people in their own city.

"It's a fun time for everybody," Game told Daily Voice. "Everybody's there just to cheer on the teams."

The tournament will likely feature six teams competing for a grand prize. A team representing School No. 5 won the last two titles, creating a mini-dynasty.

It costs $75 to register as a team. Spectators can pay $5 or bring five non-perishable food items.

Players must be at least 18 years old.

Last year the game raised about $500 and another $500 worth of food, Game said. It was about double the amount as 2013.

Game said she hopes to at least match last year's total.

The game won't be the only attraction. The students of Art in Motion will put on a show for the crowd.

"They kind of show off a little bit what they learned so far," Game said.

There are still spots available for more teams.
