Little Falls Church Dolls Up Fundraiser

LITTLE FALLS, N.J. — Some of the refreshments served at the Little Falls Doll's Winter Picnic Jan. 16 will be imaginary but the fundraising efforts will be plenty real.

Little Falls United Methodist Church will host the picnic at 1 p.m. after a successful debut in 2014, organizer Cathy Gritman said.

The event will feature crafts for the attendees ages 5 to 10 who will then use their imaginations to serve food and drink for their dolls.

"It's the fun of make believe," Gritman told Daily Voice.

The $12 entry fee will go toward Heifer International, a non-profit dedicated to ending world hunger and poverty.

Last year 100 people attended the picnic before it sold out, and Gritman said she expects the same in January.

While the girls serve imaginary refreshments to the dolls, Gritman said there will also be real hot dogs and ice cream for the attendees.

The dolls don't have to be fancy, as children can bring any stuffed animal or toy they want to the picnic, Gritman said.

"We're doing it for fun as a chance for the girls to enjoy their dolls," she said, "and it's going to help others as well."
