The "No Mas Taco Challenge" consists of a four-pound taco, which guests must conquer in 30 minutes or fewer. The No Mas Taco is a four-pound monster filled with choice of salsa chicken, picadillo beef, carnitas or veggies, topped with pico de gallo, chipotle aioli, lettuce and Jack cheese, all wrapped in a flour tortilla.

"No mas" means "no more" or "enough!" by the way.

The first five guests at each restaurant who successfully tackle the taco on Tuesday will win a gift certificate for free tacos for one year. They will also win a t-shirt, to publicly show off their prowess.

The gift certificate includes one free taco dish per month at participating Chevys Fresh Mex locations.

The No Mas Taco Challenge will continue after Oct. 4, for a limited time, but the prize is simply a t-shirt.

In addition to the No Mas Taco, on Tuesday Chevys Fresh Mex will also introduce its new Street Style Food menu and specialty beverage options, which will be available for a limited time.

These new items include the following:

  • Street-style corn -- fresh corn seasoned with Chevys' secret sauce and spices, grilled, then topped with cojita cheese and cilantro
  • Street-style tacos -- choice of marinated grilled chicken, carne asada or slow-roasted carnitas, served taco-truck style, with cilantro onion mix, cojita cheese, avocado, lettuce and fire-roasted salsa
  • Prickly pear margarita -- a cool, refreshing blend of Herrardura Reposado or Silver Tequila, paired with the sweet taste of prickly pear

Chevys Fresh Mex focuses on fresh ingredients; traditional Mexican dishes and more, made from scratch daily; and a wide variety of handcrafted cocktails. The chain was founded in California in 1981. There are now 44 restaurants across the country, including these two in New Jersey.
