A Rhode Island-based chain of discount stores is expanding in the Garden State. Ocean State Job Lot will open a new location in the Kohl's Plaza on Route 35 in Holmdel. Fire destroyed a food and clothing pantry in Middlesex County, authorities said. The fire broke out in a building leased by Fish Inc. on the 400 block of New Market Road at about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, according to Piscataway Mayor Brian Wahler, who was at the scene. A 69-year-old pickup truck driver died and his seven passengers were hurt in a crash on the Garden State Parkway Tuesday, June 7, authorities said. Thomas F. Gilbert Jr. was heading south near milepost 140.3 in Kenilworth when he crossed all lanes of travel, causing the van to hit the front left side of the truck around 4 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt.
