Passenger Killed In Route 35 Crash Authorities are investigating a fatal weekend crash in Sayreville. ALSO SEE: Police ID passenger killed in crash. The crash occurred at about 5 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, on Route 35 southbound near Fred's Bait & Tackle. A rear-seat passenger of the vehicle was killed on impact, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office. An earlier statement from the prosecutor's office incorrectly said the driver was killed. The driver and another passenger were hospitalized and were being treated for serious injuries. Traffic was detoured down Route 9 south, Sayreville police said.

Linden Man, 59, Killed In Route 9 Central Jersey Crash With Dump Truck A 59-year-old man from Union County was killed while pulling into a gas station in a collision with a dump truck on Route 9 in Central Jersey, authorities said. Renan Perez, of Linden, died Thursday, Sept. 21 after the crash in the Parlin section of Sayreville, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone alongside Chief Daniel Plumacker of the Sayreville Police Department. Driver Killed In U-Haul Truck Crash ID'd As Spotswood Woman, 53 Marlboro police released the name of the driver who died on Monday after her car toppled a telephone pole and collided with a parked U-Haul truck. Donna Piegaro, 53, of Spotswood was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which closed Route 9 southbound for more than nine hours from Old Bridge to Manalapan Township, a Marlboro police spokesman said.  The crash toppled a telephone pole onto the victim's Ford Edge and wires onto four other vehicles, Marlboro Captain Stephen Levy said. No one else was hurt, he said. Howell Police Search For Gunman Who Robbed Pizza Hut Police are searching for a gunman who robbed a Pizza Hut restaurant on Route 9 south in Monmouth County. The robber is a white male in his early 30s, 5-feet-8-inches tall, unshaven and wearing dark clothing, Howell police said. Armed with a handgun, he fled south on Kent Road late Friday morning, police said. Officers closed roads around the Pizza Hut and asked residents to avoid the area.
