Implosion Of Nabisco Factory Postponed
What's left of the shuttered Nabisco factory on Route 208 will remain standing a little while longer. The borough of Fair Lawn announced the implosion, set for Saturday, April 15, has been postponed. A new date and time has not been announced. The borough did not give a reason for the postponement, though residents had expressed concern, including launching a petition, about the environmental impacts of the implosion. Nearly 600 workers were laid off when the Nabisco plant closed after 60 years in 2021. Crews began tearing down the building to make way for a new distribution center …

: Bogus 911 Calls Bring Tactical Responders To Same Bergen Home Twice
Officers in tactical gear converged on a Fair Lawn neighborhood shortly after 2:30 a.m. recently after a 911 caller who claimed to be 13 told them she'd been kidnapped and held there against her will. They ordered everyone out of the house with their hands up before discovering that they'd been pranked, a resident said. Police got another 911 call via the NYPD that appeared to come from the same house around 9 p.m. last Wednesday. This time, a suicidal man was threatening to slit his throat with a kitchen knife. Computer Parts Container Slams Into Bridge, Topples Onto Route 208
A Route 208 overpass was none the worse for wear after a container of mostly recycled computer and electronic parts smacked into it and toppled over Wednesday morning. A wrecker was towing the roll-off container, which hit the Maple Avenue bridge on the northbound highway in Fair Lawn around 10 a.m. The crash also pierced the fuel tank, creating a diesel spill attended to by Fair Lawn firefighters. Former NFL Star Charged With DWI After Bergen County Crash
Former NFL defensive end Rob Burnett was arrested and charged with DWI after crashing his truck a couple blocks from his Franklin Lakes home, authorities said. Burnett, 53, was driving a 2020 Dodge Ram that veered off Summit Avenue and crashed in a wooded area off Route 208 near Lynn Drive shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday, Capt. John Bakelaar said. Fortunately the Super Bowl is still 111 days away. Loads of flatties and drummies got trashed after a truck full of frozen chicken wings tipped Monday morning off Route 287. A tractor-trailer rolled off Route 287 and down an embankment before dawn Friday. It was another in a series of crashes that has plagued that stretch of highway for years. Cargo Van Barrels Off Route 208, Slams Into Backyard Storage Shed
An out-of-control cargo van careened off Route 208 and slammed into a backyard storage shed in Wyckoff on Thursday after the driver said she was cut off. The 49-year-old driver from Elizabeth said she was headed south in her 2016 Nissan around noon when another vehicle cut her off, forcing her to “take evasive action to avoid a collision,” Lt. A Wanaque driver was drunk when his vehicle rear-ended another on Route 208 in Franklin Lakes late Tuesday, authorities said. The first driver told police that a 2016 Honda driven by Deivy Montalvo of Haskell sped up on his 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the right lane of the northbound highway and he couldn’t get out of the way.
