Teterboro Airport Noise Has Gotten Worse, Says New Pascack Valley Group Fighting
For residents in the Pascack Valley region, the noise from private planes flying into Teterboro Airport has become a quality of life issue. Taxpayers for Airport Noise Solutions (TANS) is a new organization that has formed to give a voice to those grievances. The group has circulated a petition, which has almost 900 signatures, requesting the FAA change the flight plans for flights into Teterboro Airport Runway 19 by having them fly over Route 17, a less residential area. A pair of heartless thieves from Pennsylvania stole 19 catalytic converters from a lot off Route 17 packed with vehicles used to help seniors, the disabled and frail Bergen County residents get around, authorities said. Convicted Repeat NJ Child Sex Offender Released After Only 19 Months Is Busted Again

A dump truck spilled macadam onto a Route 17 exit and entrance ramp Saturday morning. The driver got out OK after the mishap at the southbound exit in Allendale around 9:45 a.m. A heavy duty wrecker was needed to right and remove the truck, as well as equipment, shovels -- and brooms -- to clean up the mess. A fully loaded garbage truck tipped over on a Route 17 exit ramp late Wednesday morning. Driver Seriously Injured In Route 17 Crash
A driver sustained serious head and neck injuries Friday afternoon when his Mini Cooper veered off the highway and slammed into a retaining wall on Route 17. The driver was taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood following the crash shortly after 1 p.m. at the corner of Summit Avenue and the southbound highway. A car careened off Route 17, rolled and toppled a utility pole Monday night. No serious injuries were reported in the crash on the southbound highway near Franklin Turnpike in Ridgewood around 7:30 p.m. Ridgewood firefighters freed an occupant from the vehicle, which landed on its side on the shoulder. Two drug users died and another was hospitalized after overdosing before dawn Wednesday in a Route 17 hotel, authorities confirmed.
