An elderly Bergen County couple had $2.9 million stolen by a now-former Ridgewood Public Library tech administrator whom they'd hired to be a part-time assistant at their home, federal authorities said following his arrest.
Charles Gallo, 34, of Hawthorne, was responsible for managing the victims’ monthly bills, handling their banking and helping them with email and other issues involving technology after being hired in 2018, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said.

The arrest of a Ridgewood man who sought nude photos and videos from kids he had online sex chats with led investigators to a child in Georgia who was being victimized by a female sex trafficker, authorities said.
James A. Razin, 36, “used the Internet to view, download, possess, and distribute files depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent children,” Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said on Wednesday, May 25.

Residents Help Haledon Police Capture Car Burglar
Haledon police captured a former Paterson tattoo artist after home surveillance video caught images of him breaking into a car, authorities said.
Officers Edar Merza and Jeffrey Welsh, responding to the 4:40 a.m. call, spoke with neighbors and reviewed video of the burglar “entering and rummaging through an unlocked vehicle” parked in a driveway near the corner of Haledon Court and Oxford Street, Lt. George Guzman said.
