Route 1 Closed As Crash Downs Pole, Wires In Central Jersey: Police Route 1 in South Brunswick was closed due to a crash that toppled a pole and power lines, authorities said. the crash occurred at about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5, South Brunswick police said. Route 1 was closed from Promenade Boulevard to Raymond Road, both northbound and southbound, due to wires down across the roadway, police said. Northbound traffic is being diverted down Raymond Road, and southbound traffic is being diverted down Promenade Boulevard. Police Car Totaled By Distracted Driver: South Brunswick PD A South Brunswick police car was totaled after a motorist ran into the back of it on Route 1, authorities said.  At 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, Patrolman First Class Sean Roberts stopped a truck on Route 1 south near Raymond Road.  Roberts exited his patrol car and approached the passenger side of the truck. As he was speaking with the truck driver he heard screeching tires and a loud crash, police said.
