The images of 26 Port Authority police officers who died in the line of duty before and after 9/11 were added to a striking memorial on the New Jersey side of the George Washington Bridge. One of a group of specially-trained Jersey City police officers shot and killed a knife-wielding city man after he charged at them in his apartment, authorities said. An EMS unit was the first to respond to 2:15 p.m. call at the Randolph Avenue residence in the Bergen-Lafayette section of the city on Sunday, Aug. 27, according to a release issued late Monday by New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin. Authorities in Bridgewater are investigating a fight that apparently ended with a Black teen on the floor in handcuffs, and his white opponent watching comfortably from a nearby sofa. An officer was dead, as was a driver who rammed a vehicle into a barricade near the U.S. Capitol building and got out with a knife, authorities in Washington, D.C. said Friday.
