Van Hits House In Fair Lawn Crash, Two Seriously Injured Two people were seriously injured when a van slammed into a house following a collision with a sedan Friday morning in Fair Lawn. The morning glare was intense when the vehicles crashed, sending the van into the corner of the house on Rosalie Street at Plaza Road, across from Fair Lawn Fire Co. 3, shortly after 9 a.m. The Saturn sedan, driven by an 82-year-old Ringwood man, was headed south on Plaza Road when it was struck by a Honda van driven by a 57-year-old Nutley woman who failed to yield while heading west on Rosalie, Fair Lawn Police Sgt. The 18-year-old woman told police that she’d just exited southbound Route 208 onto Plaza Road in Fair Lawn around 8:45 p.m. Monday when she saw overhead lights behind her. She described the vehicle following her as a small car that looked “similar to a Honda,” with front windshield tints, according to a report filed with Fair Lawn police on Thursday. Fair Lawn Girl, 3, Struck By SUV A 3-year-old Fair Lawn girl walking hand-in-hand with her mom was struck Monday afternoon by an SUV driven by a 79-year-old Ridgewood woman, police said. The girl was knocked about 10 feet but wasn’t seriously injured after being struck on Plaza Road around 2:50 p.m., Sgt. Brian Metzler said. The mother, 38, wasn’t injured, Metzler said. A Toyota ended up crashing into a tree after colliding with a Chevy that was, in turn, struck from behind by a third vehicle at the corner of Berdan Avenue and Plaza Road around 2:45 p.m. One person complained of a hip injury but declined medical treatment, responders said.
