Andres Estaban Silva, 33, was in a 2019 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck heading north on Veterans Memorial Drive and turning left onto Somerset Street in Somerville, when he struck a 72-year-old resident on Friday, April 26 around 6:10 p.m., Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said. Following the crash, Silva made a U-turn and fled east on Veterans Memorial Drive, McDonald said. Pedestrian Struck, Killed By NJ Transit Train; Service Suspended A fatal pedestrian crash suspended service to NJ Transit's North Jersey Coast Line Friday, Aug. 18. The crash happened near the Aberdeen-Matawan station just after 7 a.m., an NJT spokesman said. The crash involved North Jersey Coast Line train 3320, which departed Bay Head at 5:55 a.m. was scheduled to arrive at Penn Station at 8 a.m. The train struck and killed the man just past Aberdeen-Matawan station near Cliffwood Avenue in Aberdeen, the spokesman said. At 9:12 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27, Jackson police officers responded to White Road near the intersection of Whitesville Road for a pedestrian who had been struck and the CPR was in progress. The initial investigation revealed that Sabrina Ben-Porat of Jackson was crossing the roadway when she was struck by a 2015 Dodge Durango being operated by a 22-year-old male resident of Toms River, police said. Police responding to the 2000 block of East Saint Georges Avenue found Bruce Edward Ham, Jr., with injuries around 2 a.m., Union County Prosecutor Lyndsay V. Ruotolo and Linden Police Chief David Hart jointly announced Tuesday. Ham was pronounced dead at the scene.
