Police: Ex-Employee Busted After Burglarizing Bergen Restaurant 5 Times A former employee broke into an Oakland restaurant five times and stole $20,000, said police who arrested him. Artan Reci, 33, of Riverdale "entered the restaurant during the overnight hours on several occasions over the course of several weeks," Police Lt. Christian Eldridge said. The owners called police after reviewing surveillance video of the thefts, Eldridge said. Detectives then set up surveillance at the restaurant and caught Reci, he said. Oakland Driver Charged With Assault By Auto In DWI Crash That Injured Passenger An Oakland driver was drunk when he crashed his car into a utility pole, sending his female passenger to the hospital, authorities said. Tyler Pratt, 29, was driving a 2019 Hyundai Elantra that slammed into the pole on Ramapo Valley Road just south of the Oakland Diner on Sunday, Lt. Christian Eldridge said. Oakland PD: Landscape Equipment Thief Captured In Paterson Oakland police tracked down and arrested a Paterson man who they said stole a large collection of landscaping equipment hours earlier. Several backpack leaf blowers, weed whackers, a pole trimmer and other miscellaneous equipment were taken after someone cut the hinge on the side door of a trailer parked in a lot off Bauer Drive sometime between 4:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon and 7:15 a.m. Monday.
