Two men wanted for beating attendants during a two-day spree of quick-stop armed gas station robberies in three New Jersey counties were captured by federal agents, authorities said.
Ex-con Ahmad Singletary, 24, and Joseph Young, 26, both of Newark, committed three of the robberies last Sept. 5, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said.
Four more holdups -- also in a single day -- followed exactly a week later, the U.S. attorney said.

The last of four men caught stealing more than $1.5 million worth of luxury cars in New Jersey, Rockland County, Long Island and Connecticut took a guilty plea on Thursday, federal authorities announced.
Like his pals, Malik Baker, 29, of Vauxhall, NJ, took a deal from the government, pleading guilty in federal court in Newark on Oct. 19 to conspiring to transport stolen vehicles in interstate commerce and receiving a stolen vehicle that had crossed state lines after being stolen.
U.S. District Judge Esther Salas scheduled Baker's sentencing for March 7, 2024.

A jury has found a former Newark police officer guilty of murder in the 2019 shooting of his estranged wife and the attempted murder of her partner in Morris County following an eight-day trial, authorities announced.
John Formisano, 52, was found guilty of first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, hindering apprehension or prosecution, official misconduct, and two counts each of child endangerment and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said in a joint release on Tuesday, Oct. 4.

Two people have been charged in a double shooting that left one man dead another wounded last month, authorities announced.
Joseph Dowdell, 33, is accused of gunning down Tameel Grimes, 31, on the 300 block of New Street just after midnight on Saturday, July 23, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II said. Dowdell was charged with first-degree murder, second-degree assault and two weapons offenses.

Quadree Richardson, 24, is accused of fatally killing Rabel Ramos-Gomez, 46, of Belleville, while he was working at a corner store on the 200 block of South 10th Street Sunday, July 17, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, said. Richardson was charged with first degree murder and two weapon offenses.

Three men have been arrested in connection with the death of a Jersey City man, authorities announced.
Stebbin Drew, 37, of East Orange, was found lifeless with gunshot wounds near the City Crossings apartments parking lot on Merseles Court and Bright Street around 1:50 a.m. on May 14, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said.

A longtime police officer from North Jersey has died after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Ernesto “Ernie” Hernandez, 51, of Kearny, died on Feb. 10, 2022, after 23 years on the force. After beating colon cancer 4 years ago, Hernandez was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic/liver cancer on Christmas 2021.
Ernesto's 91-year-old mother, Hilda, has endured the loss of two sons to the exact same cancer three days shy of exactly 6 years apart. Her son, Efrain Hernandez, former Gulf War Air Force Pilot, died on Feb. 14, 2016.

Feds: NJ Drug Dealer Gets 10 Years, No Parole
An admitted drug dealer from Union County is headed to federal prison for 10 years.
Tyrell "Hell Rell" Wilson, 36, of Rahway, must serve out just about all of the sentence because there's no parole in the federal prison system.
Wilson was busted in September 2019 with ex-con Marvin "Black Jesus" Lagrier, 39, of Newark.
