'The Best Solution': Library In Monmouth County Begins First Major Renovation In 20 Years A Monmouth County library has begun a large renovation project to upgrade its main area, officials said. The Middletown Township Public Library formally kicked off the improvements on Thursday, Mar. 21, the library said in a Facebook post. Mayor Tony Perry joined library director Kate Hammon, and other leaders to "swing the first hammers" for the renovation of the reference area. Middletown Route 35 Closed, Pole Fire, Wires Down Route 35 in Monmouth County was closed in both directions at rush-hour due to power lines down, authorities said. All lanes were closed between Harmony Road and New Monmouth Road in Middletown starting at about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday because of electric poles on fire, reports said.
