On Sunday, April 23, at approximately 6:10 p.m., multiple police and EMS units were dispatched to the intersection of Route 37 and Hawser Place for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. The initial investigation revealed a young woman was walking on the shoulder of Route 37 when she turned into traffic and was subsequently struck by a passing vehicle, police said. Pedestrian Critically Hurt Outside Of Crosswalk On Jersey Shore: Police A pedestrian was critically hurt in a crash on the Jersey Shore, authorities said. At 9:31 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, Toms River police and EMS units were dispatched to the intersection of Route 37 and River Drive. The initial investigation revealed that a 42 male from Lodi stepped into traffic, outside of the crosswalk, and was hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound, police said. There were no signs of impairment on the driver, who remained at the scene, police said. Ocean County College Jumper Airlifted: Police A female was airlifted to the hospital after leaping from a building on the Ocean County College campus Wednesday, Sept. 14, authorities said. Police responding to the five-story Kean Gateway Building campus found the victim, who had jumped from the roof around 12:25 p.m., Toms River police said. The female was alert and conscious and was flown to Jersey Shore Medical University for treatment of her injuries. Ocean County Sheriff’s officers and Silverton First Aid Squad also assisted at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
