A Philadelphia man and his son are accused of carrying out a string of armed robberies across the mid-Atlantic states over a period of months, and the elder suspect is still at large, authorities say.

A Connecticut passenger pointed a handgun at a New Jersey State Police trooper during a pursuit on Route 287, authorities said Monday.
The pursuit, which began in Boonton, ended in a Mahwah park with the gunman and driver in custody and four weapons seized, NJSP Trooper Charles Marchan said.
A trooper tried to stop the Jeep Cherokee for a traffic violation on northbound Route 287 in Boonton Township shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, Marchan said.
The driver, identified as ex-con Theron Brown, 22, of Bridgeport, CT, hit the gas instead and sped off, he said.

A pair of suspected car thieves were arrested at a Brick Plaza Auto Zone, authorities said.
The suspects, pulled over in a stolen BMW and stolen Jeep Cherokee, also were charged with multiple drug and weapon violations, Brick Township police said.

A Toms River man faces a plea-bargained seven years in state prison after admitting he left the scene of a crash that killed a 15-year-old Lakewood boy last fall, authorities said.
In addition to "knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death," Alexander Politan, 31, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Toms River to driving with a suspended license, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.

Woman Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Belleville Identified
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has identified the woman killed Monday night in Belleville when she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street.
Nora Hernandez, a 56-year-old Newark resident, was hit around 6:37 p.m. as she was crossing Washington Avenue near Mill Street. She was hit by a 2017 Jeep Cherokee and the driver remained at the scene, the prosecutor's office also said.
Hernandez was taken to Clara Maass Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 7:20 p.m.
