Police seek the public's help locating four men who threw an incendiary device into a dumpster. On Sunday, June 5, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the four arson suspects drove into the parking lot of Blonder Tongue, Old Bridge police said. The incendiary device caused a fire which required a response by the police and fire department. North Wildwood Firefighters Rescue Stranded Jet Skier Trapped Waist-Deep In Marsh
Firefighters rescued a stranded jet skier trapped up to his waist in a North Wildwood marsh Sunday evening. Water rescue crews responded to a disabled wave runner around 9 p.m., the fire department said. Two people were hospitalized Thursday afternoon after a sedan plowed into the basement of a Hawthorne home. The driver was more seriously injured than the passenger when the Volkwagen slammed right through the ground-level wall and down into the basement of the Goffle Hill Road home around 3:30 p.m., Fire Chief Joseph Sperenza said. Predawn Blaze Destroys Passaic Home, Damages Another
A predawn fire Monday destroyed an unoccupied Passaic multi-family home, damaged another next door and sent a firefighter to the hospital. Eleven people in all were displaced, Mayor Hector Carlos Lora said. Flames tore through several connected Paterson homes overnight Thursday, displacing 53 residents. Two civilians sustained minor injuries in the four-alarm Mill Street blaze, which destroyed a ground-floor hair salon and all of the apartments in the building where it began shortly before 2:30 a.m. One resident climbed out his second-floor apartment window before firefighters rescued him. Party-Goers Don't Realize Bergen House Is On Fire, Good Samaritan Dials 911
Well over 100 attendees at an Englewood 4th of July party apparently didn't realize the house was on fire until a passerby dialed 911, neighbors said. The good Samaritan said she "happened to be walking my grandson" on West End Avenue when she "saw the left side of the house on fire" around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Firefighters doused a quick-moving blaze that severely damaged a Westwood home Thursday morning. Allendale Man, 21, Burned When Sealant Vapors Flash In His Face
A 21-year-old Allendale man sustained first- and second-degree burns Tuesday when vapors from a can of spray sealant flashed in his face, authorities said. The New Street victim was using the rubber spray in his backyard when something ignited the vapors -- possibly static electricity, Allendale Police Chief George Scherb told Daily Voice. An apartment house fire in Edison destroyed 11 apartments, ousting at least 35 tenants from their units, authorities said. Nearly two dozen people were displaced in a fire at a three-story house in Elizabeth overnight New Year's Eve. Flames were shooting through the walls of 163 Westfield Ave., when firefighters responded around 4 a.m., reports say. One resident said that someone had been shooting off fireworks on an upstairs level of the home just before the fire broke out. Firefighters were ordered out of the house when smoke and fire began engulfing the house, bringing the blaze to a third alarm, reports say. The house was deemed untenable, and nearly two dozen people were displaced.

Driver Extricated In Tenafly Rollover
A driver had to be extricated from her SUV after it rolled Saturday afternoon in Tenafly. Tenafly firefighters got the woman out of the Subaru Forester after it landed on the driver's side on Chestnut Street near the Stop & Shop shopping center around 3:45 p.m. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening, responders said. Bayonne Fire Leaves 19 Homeless, No Injuries Reported
Firefighters worked in frigid conditions Thursday to contain a blaze that tore through the top floor of a three-story building in Bayonne, Chief Keith Weaver said in a statement. Firefighters arrived at 247 Broadway around 1:24 p.m. and saw flames pouring from the top windows of the building.
