A Siberian Husky fleeing from noisy fireworks was rescued by Monmouth County Sheriff's Officers off the Jersey Shore. Caiden, a 10-year-old dog, was saved after swimming about a mile and a half off Union Beach, authorities said. Sheriffs' Officers Michael Forgione and Kasey Collins located Caiden and brought him on board in the Raritan Bay, navigating shallow waters to reunite him with his grateful owner. Brush Fire Backs Up Route 287 In Morris County
A Friday morning brush fire was causing traffic delays on Route 287 in Morris County, authorities said. The fire broke out in the southbound lanes south of exit 40 to Route 511 in Parsippany shortly before 9:45 a.m., according to 511NJ. Fire crews in Parsippany and Whippany, as well as the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, were working to douse the blaze, initial reports said. Brush Fire Ravages Gull Island On Jersey Shore: Developing
A brush fire broke out on the Jersey Shore, according to developing and unconfirmed reports. The fire was reported early Wednesday afternoon at Gull Island County Park, Point Pleasant Beach, initial reports said. A fireboat was requested from Manasquan, and firefighters and State Police reportedly were battling the fire on the mainland, according to an unconfirmed report. A portion of the Garden State Parkway was closed overnight Wednesday, backing up traffic for miles as firefighters battled a brush fire. UPDATE (w/VIDEO): A firefighter with the New Jersey Forest Fighter Service was critically injured while responding to what became a destructive forest fire on Sunday, authorities said. : Mahwah Firefighters Rush From Rockland Brush Blaze To Local House Fire
Mahwah firefighters were helping their colleagues from Hillburn, Sloatsburg and Tallan douse a brush fire in a remote wooded area of Rockland on Sunday when a house fire broke out nearby in town. The fire, which originated in the kitchen, was quickly knocked down, although it did cause some damage. Mutual aid was provided by firefighters from Ramsey, Franklin Lakes, Allendale, Saddle River, Upper Saddle River and Suffern. No injuries were reported. Far Hills-Bedminster FD Contain Car Fire That Had Begun To Spread
The Far Hills-Bedminster Fire Department Sunday put out a car fire that broke out on eastbound I-78, the department said in a statement. Firefighters found the vehicle on the left shoulder, where it had touched off a brush fire. The main blaze was quickly contained but firefighters had to apply fire-suppressing foam to the highway after spilled fuel ignited. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
