NJ Restaurant Owner In $90,000 Wire Transfer Scam Flees To Brazil, Returned To US
A Fairview restaurant owner who claimed to be sending wire transfers for customers to Brazil pocketed at least $90,000 before fleeing the country, authorities said. Joanistel Ramos, 59, who owns Brasil and Brazil restaurant on Anderson Avenue, stiffed at least 15 local victims out of $40,000 in wire transfers that were never sent, Fairvew Police Capt. Michael Martic said. "She basically printed out a bogus generic receipt and put the money in her pocket," the captain said. The 34-year-old convicted killer from Brazil was found hiding under foliage within a search perimeter in northern Chester County, 6abc reports. Shirtless Danelo Cavalcante Last Spotted Carrying .22 Rifle, Flashlight
The reward in the search for Danelo Cavalcante has been increased to $25,000. The 34-year-old escaped killer, who is also wanted for murder in Brazil, is armed after stealing a pistol from a Chester County home Monday, Sept. 11, authorities said. Police say he was last spotted in South Coventry Township, without a shirt, carrying a stolen .22 rifle and flashlight. Residents should call 911 immediately if he is spotted. Alexandria resident Jessica "Jessy" Schroth died Tuesday, Aug. 8, after a recent illness, according to her obituary. She was 48 years old.
