Eleven New Jersey Natives Selected In 2024 NFL Draft: 'I Hear That Smile!'
Nearly a dozen football players from the Garden State heard their names called during the 2024 NFL Draft. Eleven players with New Jersey ties were selected in the draft from Thursday, Apr. 25 to Saturday, Apr. 27 in Detroit. The top Jersey draft pick was Max Melton, a Mays Landing native who played cornerback at Rutgers. Melton was taken in the second round with the 43rd overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals. A philosophy professor from Hasbrouck Heights who authorities said planned to burn down St. Patrick's Cathedral died by suicide last week, nearly a month after being released from Rikers Island amid the coronavirus outbreak. Domestic Incident: Bergen Councilman Charged With Harassment, Resisting
EXCLUSIVE: A Maywood councilman was arrested in Teaneck after he became combative with police during a domestic incident, authorities said. Officers were trying to calm Matthew Garofalow, 40, who apparently was upset over the breakup of a relationship when he showed up at police headquarters around 6:25 p.m. Friday, sources with knowledge of the incident told Daily Voice.
