Sparks flew after an unlicensed Ridgewood hit-and-run driver struck a utility pole in Glen Rock with his muscle car and sped off on three wheels and a rim, authorities said. Christopher Loehwing, 49, parked the smashed-up Charger in a shopping center lot outside his apartment more than a mile away following Wednesday night’s crash, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. Glen Rock police were searching for a truck that struck a bicyclist and kept going Thursday afternoon. The victim flagged down a police officer after the truck's passenger-side mirror struck her on Harristown Road, near the intersection of Berkeley Place, and broke off just after 2 p.m., Police Chief Dean Ackermann said. She described the truck as a black utility-type vehicle commonly used for construction or landscaping. It was last seen headed east on Harristown Road towards Ackerman Avenue, the chief said. Police: Driver, 19, At Fault In Late-Night Crash Had Too Many Passengers
A 19-year-old Glen Rock driver was one of six people crammed into a car built for five that crashed in the borough late Sunday, sending the other driver to the hospital, authorities said. The younger driver’s 2017 Volkswagen Jetta collided with a 2013 Chrysler 300 driven by a 22-year-old Midland Park woman at the intersection of Central and Ackerman avenues around 10:30 p.m., Police Chief Dean Ackerman said.
