In March 2022, police began investigating after an 8-year-old said Raul Elias of Manville sexually assaulted her, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said.
Elias was subsequently convicted of endangering the welfare of a child in March 2024 after a three-day trial, authorities said.
As part of his sentence, Elias must register as a sex offender and be on parole supervision for the rest of his life.
When sentencing him, Judge Peter Tober said Elias took little responsibility for his actions, authorities said.
