: Firefighters, Police Unite To Rescue Dog In Pascack Valley House Fire
Firefighters and police teamed up to rescue a dog who was pulled from a smoky house fire Saturday night in Hillsdale. The blaze apparently began in the basement of the home on Deer Trail Road at Ruckman Avenue at the Woodcliff Lake border around 6:30 p.m. May 27. The fire quickly went to two alarms, bringing companies from surrounding towns both to the scene and in coverage. Pig Succumbs To Injuries From Fair Lawn Fire
A pig had to be euthanized following a pen fire in Fair Lawn, authorities said. A neighbor doused the flames that broke out behind a Saddle River Road home around 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 7, police Sgt. Brian Metzler said. The Bergen County SPCA arranged for Van Saun Park Zoo personnel to take the pig to the Westwood Regional Veterinary Hospital, he said. The Fair Lawn Fire Prevention Bureau was investigating the cause of the fire.

Passaic County Man Charged With Shooting Dog
A dog who was at first believed injured by fireworks had actually been shot, said authorities who charged a Passaic County man with animal cruelty. Wanaque police responding to DuPont and Makemoney avenues in Haskell around 10 p.m. found the dog, who was taken to the Westwood Regional Veterinary Hospital in Westwood, authorities said. “It was determined that the dog sustained injuries by a small caliber bullet,” Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M.
