The store at Newport Centre announced a store closing sale on Friday evening, Jan. 5 on Facebook. The store is planning on moving to a smaller location in Paramus Park Mall later this year, next to the former Sears department store. Commonly known as the "Japanese Gap," Uniqlo has shuttered several other stores in the past few years (including the lower level at the GSP) at the Palisades Center Mall along with others in Staten Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and more. 3 Hospitalized After NJ Transit Bus Slams Hackensack Sears Light Post Three NJ Transit passengers were transported to the hospital after a the bus they were on struck a light pole in Hackensack Monday morning. The bus driver was attempting to make a U-turn outside of Sears on Main Street when the bus hit a pole, just after 6:30 a.m., fire officials said. Six other passengers refused medical treatment and three were transported to HUMC with unknown injuries, the Hackensack Fire department said. An NJ Transit spokesman told NJ.com that the bus -- No. 772 from New Milford to Carlstadt -- is operated by Saddle River Tours.

The company said in an earnings statement Thursday it plans to close 63 of about 100 nonprofitable stores. New Jersey will be losing stores in Burlington, Lawrenceville and Ocean, along with a Kmart in Passaic. This Is Sears' Last Weekend Ever In Paramus Park Mall PARAMUS, N.J. -- Saturday will be Sears' final day before shuttering at the Paramus Park Mall more than four decades after opening. There is a major sale on exercise equipment and home appliances, its website says. The bottom store will be replaced by a Stew Leonard's supermarket and the top a 12-screen movie theater. The Sears store opened in August 1974, five months after the mall did.
