A 14-month-old boy was dangling from his car seat, held in place by the straps, after an SUV ended up precariously perched on two wheels against the divider of the approach to the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee. The boy’s mother and another adult were cushioned by the Chevy Equinox’s airbags, but the vehicle itself was unstable. Port Authority police and tunnel and bridge agents had to get the diaper-clad child out. Once they did, Officer TJ McPike wrapped the boy in his uniform shirt and passed him off to Officer Greg Rose, who comforted the youngster until his mother was rescued. …

Atlantic City Woman, 57, Struck, Killed While Helping Stranded Motorist At Route 30 Crash Scene
A motorist who stopped to help another motorist involved in a crash was struck and killed in South Jersey, authorities said. Atlantic City police were called to Route 30 on a report of a collision about 10 p.m. Wednesday, a department spokesman said. Responding patrol officers found that a Jeep SUV operated by an unidentified driver, 35, from Atlantic City, struck a center median and became disabled in the left lane of eastbound traffic. A tractor-trailer hit three vehicles, severely damaging one of them, in South Hackensack late Wednesday, authorities said.The driver of the Crystal Freight rig out of Loveland, Ohio was headed to an Amazon facility in Teterboro when he turned down the wrong street shortly before 11 p.m., Detective Capt. Robert Chinchar said. Firefighters Extricate Driver With Severe Head Injury In Crash Off Route 208
A driver suffered traumatic head injuries and had to be extricated by Franklin Lakes firefighters after she ran a stop sign and her car was hit by a truck, authorities said. The 27-year-old Paterson driver had exited northbound Route 208 to Summit Avenue shortly before 7:30 a.m., Police Sgt. Denny G. Knubel said. She made a left onto Summit without stopping and her Nissan Sentra was struck by a Freightliner driven by a 66-year-old borough man, Knubel said. The fleeing driver of a vehicle that crashed into two others in Paterson during a pre-dawn New Jersey State Police chase Sunday tossed a gun out the window, authorities said. A 25-year-old Jersey Shore driver died in a Morris County crash Saturday, authorities said. Stephanie Santora, of Jackson, was behind the wheel of an unknown vehicle that was struck by a truck pulling a utility trailer east in the left lane of Route 24 near mile post 5.7 at 12:22 p.m., NJSP Sgt. A 14-year-old Englewood girl was struck crossing a city street Tuesday afternoon, authorities said. The 36-year-old Secaucus driver of the Ford van that hit her at the intersection of Tenafly Road and Hudson Avenue shortly before 3:30 p.m. said he was "temporarily blinded by the glare of the sun," Deputy Police Chief Gregory Halstead said.
