Paramus Chick-fil-A Weeks Away From Opening, Mayor Says
The opening of the brand-new Paramus Chick-fil-A is imminent. According to Paramus Mayor Chris DiPiazza, the Chick-fil-A being built alongside the northbound side of Route 17 will open in the first week of May. The fast-casual chicken joint replaces The Fireplace, which closed in July 2021 after 65 years in business. "We’re excited to welcome Chick-fil-A to Route 17," DiPiazza said. Rooftop Fire Doused At Paramus Macy's
Firefighters made quick work of a smoky rooftop blaze at the Macy's in the Paramus Park mall on Sunday. A large transformer in a rooftop parapet caught fire shortly after 12:30 p.m., Oct. 1. There was initial concern when the fire went to three alarms. In the end, the rooftop damage was minor, responders said. Paramus firefighters assisted by their colleagues from Oradell had the bulk of the blaze knocked down in barely a half hour. Five employees checked out OK, and firefighters plucked three others from the roof, after a broken refrigeration pipe filled Stew Leonard's in Paramus with carbon dioxide early Tuesday. The store hadn't opened yet when responders rushed to the Paramus Park mall at 7:45 a.m. Nov. 6, Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said. Two Drive-In Theaters Coming To Paramus
As malls throughout the state received approval to reopen their doors, Paramus officials have approved two plans for drive-in movie theaters, reports say. The first theater will be located in the parking lot of Westfield Garden State Plaza, which, ironically, was one of New Jersey’s last drive-in theaters before it was demolished and turned into one of the mall’s parking lots in the 1980s, NorthJersey reports. Gap Closing 230 Stores In National Liquidation Including 2 In Bergen County
A pair of Gap stores in Bergen County are among the latest to shutter, recent reports say. The fashion retailer announced last year a plan to close 230 “underperforming” stores throughout the country. Included are stores located at Paramus Park Mall and Ridgewood Avenue. The Gap says it will shift its focus to e-commerce operations. Uniqlo has closed its Garden State Plaza location. The store is planning on moving to a smaller location in Paramus Park Mall later this year, next to the former Sears department store. Commonly known as the "Japanese Gap," Uniqlo has shuttered several other stores in the past few years (including the lower level at the GSP) at the Palisades Center Mall along with others in Staten Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and more. A Philadelphia trio led Paramus police officers on a brief chase that resulted in a crash -- and then their arrests, authorities said. On Oct. 3, Paramus police officers responded to the Paramus Park Mall on a reports of three people pickpocketing and stealing, Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said. PARAMUS, N.J. -- Saturday will be Sears' final day before shuttering at the Paramus Park Mall more than four decades after opening. There is a major sale on exercise equipment and home appliances, its website says. The bottom store will be replaced by a Stew Leonard's supermarket and the top a 12-screen movie theater.
