A group of Englewood police officers nabbed one juvenile with a stolen handgun and another with a knife after chasing both down, authorities said. The pair bolted when confronted by officers responding to a report of a robbery on Second Street at 10:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, Englewood Deputy Police Chief Matthew de la Rosa said. An hour-long standoff ended in Englewood early Friday with police seizing an emotionally disturbed man who climbed up on the roof of a local home and begged them to shoot him. Officers who responded to the Genesee Avenue home near Lafayette Place shortly after 7:30 a.m. June 23 already were familiar with the suicidal 33-year-old resident, Deputy Chief Matthew de la Rosa said. An Englewood police officer escaped serious injury in a crash during a pursuit, authorities confirmed. The thieves had tried to steal a vehicle in the city's East Hill section shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday, Capt. Matthew de la Rosa said. The homeowner came out, however, and they fled, residents said. A 27-year-old Dumont woman was struck by a sedan when she crossed in the middle of a busy Englewood street in the dark, authorities said. The victim "walked into the roadway, midblock, not in a crosswalk, and was struck" by an Acura TL on West Palisade Avenue near Nathaniel Place shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday, Capt.
