Glen Rock Homeowner Burned A Glen Rock homeowner burned his hand Monday during a small fire at his home. The Abington Terrace home just off Maple Avenue sustained minor damage in the noontime Nov. 20 second-floor blaze. The homeowner declined ambulance transport and said he'd drive himself to the hospital. Fire officials said original suspicions that a torch being used to burn paint off a baseboard caused the fire were incorrect. Glen Rock PD: Cooking Oil Thieves Caught Glen Rock police tracked down and busted two Hudson County men who they said siphoned used cooking oil that a local shopping center owner was collecting for recycling. A retired police officer who saw a TV news story about the Dec. 28 thefts recognized a van that police said the thieves used -- and had taken several photos of it, including the license plate number, which Police Chief Dean Ackermann said wasn't visible on surveillance video. The property owner told police that he collects the used oil from two restaurants that leave it in drums behind the Maple Avenue shopping center.
