'Like A Superhero': Community Prepares Goodbyes For Beloved East Rutherford Deputy Police Chief It all sadly happened so fast. East Rutherford Deputy Police Chief Phil Taormina, a man who was as kind as he was courageous, died Wednesday, just months after he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of liver cancer. He was only 46. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at St. Pius X R.C. Church in Montville (24 Changebridge Rd,). Christopher Kucan, 24, of Wood-Ridge, worked as a tunnel and bridge agent with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey at the Lincoln Tunnel. Mark Roth Of Carlstadt Dies, 39 Lifelong Carlstadt resident Mark Roth died on April 4. He was working as a pharmacy technician at Stop & Shop for the past eight years. He enjoyed coaching the Junior Wildcats Football teams.  He is predeceased by his father John J. Roth.  Mark is survived by his mother, Carol M. (nee Matthews Roth); brother Matthew J. Roth and his wife Mary, John J. Roth; sister Sarah Dechert and her husband David; uncle Thomas Roth; and cherished nephews, niece and great nephew.  Services were handled by the Kimak Funeral Home.

Gina Giordano Of East Rutherford Dies, 28 Gina Marie Giordano of Lyndhurst and formerly East Rutherford died on March 1. She was 28 years old. Visitation will be at the Kimak Funeral Home in Carlstadt on Monday, March 5 at 4 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a private cremation. Gina is survived by her mom, Lisa Giordano; grandmother, Julia nee Baldwin Giordano; aunts and uncles, Louis Giordano, John Giordano, Brenda Giordano Kenney, Donna Giordano Pirozzi and Melissa Giordano.
