A crew of con artists from New Jersey admitted swindling more than $1.3 million from hundreds of businesses nationwide and abroad that thought they were buying specialized aviation equipment. The head of the operation, Antonio P. Signo, 36, of Somerset – aka "Tony Demetro" – had been the first to take a deal from prosecutors rather than face the potential consequences of a trial. 'Like Everyone's Mom': North Jersey Woman Reported Drowned On Company Retreat In Miami
A 56-year-old executive recruiter from Bergen County drowned while on a company retreat in Miami this week, VINnews reports. Elaine Mehler of Englewood was pulled from Biscayne Bay near Miami's Jungle Island in "extremely critical condition" around 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, WPLG Local 10 in Miami reported, citing Miami Fire Rescue. Mehler was airlifted to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami, where she was pronounced dead. Abbott Laboratories voluntarily expanded its recall of certain Similac PM 60/40 cans and cases after a second infant who was given the powdered baby formula died, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said. Abbott had already recalled certain Alimentum, Similac and EleCare baby formulas made at the same company facility in Michigan after four infants were sickened by bacterial infections and one of them died.
