Dad Killed Biking To 2nd Job In Jersey City: Family
Guillermo Acevedo was biking to his second job in Jersey City when he was fatally struck by a vehicle on Saturday, Nov. 4, those who knew him said. At 4 p.m., Jersey City police responded to Marin Boulevard and 16th Street where a 2018 Hyundai Elantra collided with Acevedo, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. Englewood Resident Carjacked, Fleeing Juveniles Captured In Paterson
Two 17-year-olds who carjacked an Englewood resident at gunpoint overnight Wednesday were captured in Paterson a short time later by city police and New Jersey State Police troopers. The 52-year-old victim told police the two masked robbers took his Hyundai Elantra at the Rock Creek Terrace Apartment complex shortly after midnight Nov. 1, Detective Lt. Fred Pulice said. UPDATE: A driver who crashed a stolen car at a popular hot dog stand on Route 46 in Lodi on Wednesday drove a couple blocks further before getting into another car, police said. The 2023 Hyundai Elantra -- which had apparently been stolen out of Edison -- crashed at Hank's Franks shortly before 2 p.m. Aug. 2, local law enforcement officers said. A 59-year-old Lakewood man has been charged with killing his live-in girlfriend before fleeing to Maryland, authorities said. John Filistovich was charged on Thursday, June 1 with murder in connection with the beating and suffocation of Betty Perry, 60, of Lakewood, they said. Driver Hospitalized After Sedan Slams Into Ridgewood Utility Pole
RIDGEWOOD, N.J. -- A young driver was hospitalized Monday afternoon after her new sedan slammed into a utility pole in Ridgewood. An ambulance took the woman to Hackensack University Medical Center after the crash in the 400 block of Linwood Avenue. Her injuries didn't appear life-threatening. The 4-door 2018 Hyundai Elantra Limited had to be towed.
