State Charges Millville Court With Discriminating Against Spanish Speakers
State authorities filed a complaint Tuesday accusing the city of Millville of violating the law by discriminating against Spanish-speaking defendants. The municipal court in Millville required those who “were or were perceived to be Spanish-speaking” prevented them from participating in court proceedings virtually between June and December 2022, New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin said on Aug. 8. Instead, they were required to attend court proceedings in person, the attorney general said. A man was hospitalized with a life-threatening stab wound and his assailant was being sought following a fight Sunday afternoon outside an Englewood church. Officers who responded to at Mt. Cavalry Baptist Church on West Demarest Avenue applied a tourniquet before an ambulance took the victim, 31, to Hackensack University Medical Center shortly before 3 p.m., Deputy Police Chief Gregory Halstead said. New Jersey State Police are seeking the public's help in identifying a pair of men wanted for a road rage incident on the NJ Turnpike. The victim and the two suspects were pulled over on the northbound, inner roadway at milepost 82 in East Brunswick around 6:30 p.m. Aug. 15, State Police said. Cabbie Says Gang Of 5 Held Knife To His Neck, Took Cash In Clifton
A cab driver told Clifton police one of five robbers put a knife to his neck and took his cash after making him pull over. The driver said he picked up the five in another town and was headed to the Clifton/Passaic border when they ordered him to stop at Main and Madison avenues around 1 a.m. Saturday, Detective Lt.
