The driver of a sedan that completely rolled over after it slammed into an SUV parked at a gas station on Route 17 in Ridgewood early Sunday might have fallen asleep, responders said. The Honda Accord with New York plates was speeding when it careened off the southbound highway and rammed the unoccupied Acura MDX at the Exxon Tiger Mart north of Franklin Turnpike shortly after 7:30 a.m. Jan. 7, witnesses said. PVC Pipe Found In Middle Of Ramsey Street Brings Bomb Squad
A piece of PVP pipe found in the middle of a quiet, leafy Ramsey street brought an emergency response that included the bomb squad, authorities said. Borough officers found the hard plastic pipe on Arlton Avenue, just off Franklin Turnpike, early Sunday afternoon, May 21, Ramsey Police Detective Jaclyn Sabatelli said. They quickly cleared the area and blocked traffic while awaiting the Bergen County Bomb Squad and the Bergen County Sheriff's K-9 Unit, the detective said. Driver Freed, Hospitalized In Allendale T-Bone Crash
A driver was hospitalized after being extricated from an SUV following an afternoon rush-hour crash Monday in Allendale. Allendale firefighters and Ramsey Rescue personnel quickly freed the driver of the T-boned Nissan Rogue, which ended up on a lawn off the corner of busy Cottage Place and East Allendale Avenue -- a block from Franklin Turnpike -- around 4:30 p.m. Feb. 27. Injuries weren't considered life-threatening, responders said. Allendale police were investigating. No further information was immediately available. Boyd A. Tractor-Trailer Fire Closes Route 17
A rush-hour fire incinerated the cab of a tractor-trailer on Route 17. The rig ignited on the southbound highway in Ramsey just before the Franklin Turnpike exit and across from the Shannon Rose restaurant, sending a column of black smoke skyward that could be seen for miles. Police temporarily closed both sides of the highway as members of the Ramsey Fire Department and Rescue Squad doused the late afternoon blaze with help from their Mahwah colleagues. ! Missing Ramsey Woman With Alzheimer's, 71, Found
RAMSEY, N.J. -- A MISSING 71-year-old Ramsey woman with Alzheimer's who went missing from a local shopping center early Wednesday evening was found a couple of hours later, authorities said. An NJ State Police helicopter was en route when Selma Rowe was found in Finch Park. She'd been reported missing from the Interstate Shopping Center off southbound Route 17 and Franklin Turnpike -- which has a Shop-Rite, Bed Bath & Beyond and DSW, among other stores -- a couple of blocks from the park.
