This year’s theme is “How will you make a difference?” and is open to students of all ages.

Grades K-3 will submit a collage (11” x 17”), grades 4-8 a poster (11” x 17”) and 9-12 an essay.

  • The essay should be limited to one page and inspired by the following quotes: “Be the change you wish to see in the world” - Mahatma Gandhi
  • “We will not build a peaceful world by following a negative path. It is not enough to say ‘we must not wage war,’ it is necessary to love peace and sacrifice for it” - Martin Luther King, Jr.
  • “When the whole is silent, even one voice becomes powerful. One child, one teacher, one book, and one pen, can change the world" - Malala Yousafzai.
The collages and posters can be dropped off at The Children's Library C/O Jane T. or at the Civil Rights Commission mailbox at Borough Hall.

The essays must include a name, grade, teacher’s name, and be given to a teacher upon completion.

Three prizes will be given for each contest with first place winners receiving a $25 AMC gift card, second place a $15 Ice Cream Charlie’s gift card and third place a $10Ice Cream Charlie’s gift card.

All winners will be recognized by Mayor DeSalvo Jr. and will have a group photo taken at a town council meeting.
