The employee fell unconscious after starting the vehicle inside the entrance bay at the west side of the Moonachie Avenue plant but quickly came to, Detective Sgt. John Cleary said.
One of the employees was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center and the other to The Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center in Secaucus by the Wood-Ridge Fire Department EMS and Cardlstadt Volunteer Ambulance Corp, he said.
First responders from several area agencies converged on the scene after the call came in at 10:22 p.m.
Carlstadt firefighters "conducted a search of the building with a gas detection meter and found no abnormal readings," Police Chief Thomas Nielsen said Saturday. "PSE&G was contacted and responded to the scene and also checked the building for the presence of hazardous gasses.
"No dangerous readings were detected and the building was deemed safe to reoccupy," he said.
