Hasuga was scooped up 20 minutes after the 10:24 a.m. robbery of the branch at 5 Sylvan Street on Route 21 just south of Nutley, Rutherford Police Capt. Hal Ciser told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
A woman ran out of the bank and told a passerby about the holdup. The passerby got a description of the white 1995 Chevy wagon.

Moments later, Sgt. Henry Farrell and Patrolman Robert Buell spotted the vehicle getting onto the highway.
“Everything was academic after that,” Ciser said. “He wasn’t about to get away, so there was no pursuit.”
Charges are robbery, theft and making terroristic threats because he threatened to hurt people in the bank with a note.
