Everton A. Johnson remained held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail following his arrest Thursday on charges of sexual assault and child endangerment.
The girl told a guidance counselor at Alfred S. Faust Middle School in East Rutherford who then contacted local police, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this morning.
Investigators from his Special Victims Unit and East Rutherford police then interviewed the girl, he said.
“During that interview, the victim disclosed in specific details what had occurred between her and [Johnson],” Molinelli said. “It was also learned that the sexual activity had actually taken place in Rutherford, New Jersey.”
Johnson already was awaiting court action in connection with the April 22 theft of a cellphone from a hallway outside the high school weight room. Police said they found him carrying marijuana, for which he was also charged.
