UPDATE: Essex County Corrections Officer Debora Ferreira’s murderers didn’t know who she was, say Newark police, who have charged two men and a juvenile with killing her during a carjacking, in addition to several other violent crimes.

“Deborah was not only an officer, she was a mother of a 1-year-old,” New Jersey State PBA President Anthony Wieners said. “This just sickens all of us.

“We want those responsible to know we will never rest until they are caught.”

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Homicide/Major Crime Task Force is investigating the case.

Ferreira was an Essex corrections officer.
