Prosecutor: Child porn distributor was following kids

Investigators scooped up a suspected predator who parents said was following children around a public park, then found kiddie porn on his home computers, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said.

Matthew Alan Magda, 29, who lives on the first floor at 44 Herman Street in East Rutherford, is being held on $500,000 cash bail, charged with child endangerment and distributing child pornography.

Magda, who is single and unemployed, tried to cover his cyber-trail, Molinelli said. But he didn’t fool investigators.

Parents called Rutherford police yesterday after spotting Magda in the park, the prosecutor said. Soon after, detectives learned that he was “utilizing several areas of the Internet to trade” kiddie porn.

Molinelli credited both the East Rutherford and Rutherford police departments for making the arrest by his Computer Crimes Unit and Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Squads possible.
