Officers Jennifer Morrone, Liam Huczko and Patrick Gorman were among 249 officers in the PAPD’s 113th class to be graduated during ceremonies in Elizabeth.

Gorman’s and Huczko’s fathers were Port Authority officers. Morrone’s cousin, Fred Morrone, was the PAPD superintendent when America was attacked.

“This is the first class to have three family members, referred to by the PAPD as ‘legacies,’ of WTC victims,” the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.

Welcoming them at the Dunn Sports Center were Port Authority Executive Director Pat Foye, Deputy Executive Director Deb Gramiccioni, Chief Security Officer Joseph Dunne and PAPD Superintendent Michael Fedorko.

The new class brings the PAPD to nearly 1,800 officers.

The recruits will began a rigorous 26-week program at the academy at the Port Authority Technical Center in Jersey City.

The course of study includes New York and New Jersey law, police procedures, evidence collection and traditional police training.

Each officer also will receive specialized training in counter-terrorism, firefighting and first aid, including the use of defibrillators.
